Hello! I’m Shani Israelov
I’m a dedicated master’s student pursuing my degree as part of the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Japan program – Master of Science in Imaging and Light in Extended Reality (IMLEX). I am presently engaged in my MSc thesis at the VisualAI lab in the Computer Science Department of Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan, under the supervision of Kuriyama-Sensei.
The IMLEX program is a unique blend of image conversion, lighting, and computer science, offered collaboratively by a consortium of four esteemed universities: University of Eastern Finland, Toyohashi University of Technology (Japan), University Jean Monnet Saint-Etienne (France), and KU Leuven (Belgium).
My research interests lie at the intersection of Computer Vision and Machine Learning, with a specific focus on Extended Reality. I am captivated by the boundless possibilities that Extended Reality presents, and I’m determined to contribute to its advancement through cutting-edge research and innovation.
Before pursuing my master’s degree, I had the privilege of working at Qualcomm as an Algorithm and System Engineer, where I delved into fascinating projects centered around signal processing and 5G technology.
In 2021, I proudly received my bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computers Engineering from Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. During my undergraduate years, I actively contributed to the research community, collaborating on projects like StyleGAN at SIPL Lab and Image Denoising at VISL Lab. These experiences have shaped my academic journey and deepened my enthusiasm for computer vision and image processing and their applications.
Recognizing my dedication and potential, I was honored to be awarded the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) Student Scholarhship, funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union. This scholarship has opened doors to exceptional learning opportunities, allowing me to engage with diverse perspectives and foster international collaborations.
